Back to school means new school supplies, and Honsador Lumber is helping students be prepared with the supplies they need.
This school year, Honsador Lumber released its first-ever Backpacks 4 Kids program. Honsador Lumber recognized that some families can’t afford to buy new school supplies every year. To take some of the stress out of the first few days of school, Honsador delivered over 500 backpacks stuffed with supplies to public schools across the Hawaiian Islands.
Throughout the first week of the school year, Honsador delivered 75 backpacks to Kona, 75 backpacks to Hilo, 100 backpacks to Maui, 75 backpacks to Kauai, and 175 to Oahu for various schools in the areas. These backpacks were provided to public schools based on the need for school supplies for their students. The school administration and teachers can then distribute these backpacks to any students short on supplies.
This Backpacks 4 Kids program is something Honsador hopes to carry on year after year. With some of Honsador’s own employees as alumni of these various schools, they have the opportunity to give back in a special way to their communities. The first week of school can be stressful for students and families, but Honsador wants to help every kid start the school year with confidence!
